Day 4: Bloomington, IN to Dale, IN  [96 miles]

After the previous day's flat tires and headwinds, things took a turn for the better in Bloomington. This is Anna, Vice President of Membership for Delta Delta Delta sorority.

These young men were recruiting for a club called Dagorhir which stages live-action medieval battles.

I had a nice chat with Georgia, a junior in the journalism school. She performs improv comedy and writes for the Indiana Daily Student. After graduation she plans to move to Chicago or New York to work as a comedy writer.






On East Sixth Street, Bloomington, IN

I had breakfast at the Runcible Spoon while I waited for the bike shop to open. A group of poli-sci majors at the next table were visibly discouraged by the latest presidential election poll numbers.






On US 50 east of Shoals, IN

Fans of the 1979 movie Breaking Away will remember that the region around Bloomington is dotted with limestone quarries.









On Geiger Street, Huntingburg, IN

This Italianate structure was formerly the Huntingburg fire station and jail.
